Week 52: Continuing the Practice
Welcome to Week 52 — our final week together. A year ago, Week 1 began with a simple, unhurried invitation: notice your feet on the floor, your breath, the weight of your hands. Fifty-two weeks later, that same invitation still holds.
Welcome to Week 52 — our final week together.
A year ago, Week 1 began with a simple, unhurried invitation: notice your feet on the floor, your breath, the weight of your hands. Fifty-two weeks later, that same invitation still holds — the practice was never about reaching a finish line, but about building a durable, ongoing relationship with your own body.
What Happens Now?
This is the natural question as a structured, weekly program ends: what continues? The honest answer is that somatic practice doesn't have a true endpoint — your body and nervous system will keep needing attention, regulation, and care for the rest of your life, in ever-changing circumstances.
What changes now is the structure: instead of a new topic each week, you carry forward the personal practice you built in Week 49, adapted as needed by the micro-practices from Week 50, informed by the honest reflections from Weeks 16, 40, and 51.
This Week's Practice
Practice 1: Revisit Your Core Five
Look again at the core five practices you identified in Week 49. After three more weeks of living with them, are they still the right five? Adjust if needed.
Practice 2: Set a Check-In Rhythm
Decide on a rhythm for periodically revisiting your practice going forward — monthly, seasonally, or at moments of significant life change — so it stays a living practice rather than something that quietly fades.
Practice 3: Write Your Own Week 53
Write a short note to yourself, to be read whenever you next feel disconnected from your body or your practice — a reminder of why this mattered to you, and where to begin again. There's no wrong way to write this.
What to Watch For
- A sense of ownership over this practice now, distinct from following a weekly program
- Confidence that you know where to begin again, even after a long gap
- Genuine appreciation for how far a year of consistent, gentle attention has taken you
- Openness to the fact that this practice will keep evolving, just as you will
A Note on Starting Where You Are
If this final week arrives and you feel like you're still near the beginning in some ways, that's alright — somatic practice isn't linear, and there's no deadline by which you're supposed to have "arrived" anywhere. The practice itself — showing up, noticing, adjusting — is the whole point, not a means to some final destination.
There Is No Week 53
There's no Week 53 scheduled here — but there doesn't need to be. You have what you need to begin again, any time, on your own terms.
You started where you were. You kept going. That's everything. 🌿
