Week 40: Self-Compassion Phase Reflection
Welcome to Week 40 — the close of our self-compassion phase. Before we move into our final phase together, this week is a structured pause to look back over the past eight weeks.
Welcome to Week 40 — the close of our self-compassion phase.
Before we move into our final phase together, this week is a structured pause to look back over the past eight weeks of self-compassion work.
Why Reflect Here
Self-compassion shifts tend to be gradual and quiet — less dramatic than some of the earlier work in this program, and therefore easier to miss. This week is an opportunity to look back specifically at how your relationship with yourself may have shifted since Week 33, even in small ways.
This Week's Practice
Practice 1: The Self-Compassion Phase Review
Look back over Weeks 33–39: self-compassion basics, the inner critic, the self-compassion break, shame, self-care, sleep, and nourishment. For each, note: Did I try this? What did I notice? What's different now?
Practice 2: Inner Critic Check-In
Compare your relationship with your inner critic now versus eight weeks ago. Has anything shifted — in how often you notice it, how you respond to it, or how much power it holds?
Practice 3: A Letter to Yourself
Write a short, compassionate letter to yourself — not a motivational speech, but a genuine, warm acknowledgment of where you are right now, what you've been carrying, and what you've been building.
What to Watch For
- Any genuine, if subtle, shifts in how you speak to yourself internally
- Practices from this phase that have become more natural or automatic
- Areas where self-compassion still feels difficult or foreign, without judgment
- A felt sense of the difference between self-criticism and self-compassion in your body
A Note on Starting Where You Are
If this phase felt harder than others, or if self-compassion still feels largely inaccessible, that's honest and worth acknowledging. Some of this work takes longer than eight weeks, and some of it benefits from professional support. What matters is that you've been paying attention.
Looking Ahead
Next week, we begin our sixth and final phase: connection — starting with one of the most direct channels of human connection: eye contact.
Forty weeks of showing up for yourself. That matters. Start where you are. 🌿
